The mom jean has been a favorite of ours for a few years now, but particularly since we've been striving to re-create any and every '90s trend we possibly can. On paper, the mom jean doesn't necessarily sound flattering. It's got a high-rise fit, slightly tapered at the waist, with a long zipper and enough structure to make your booty look long and flat. The pant leg is straight or stiff, usually coming right to the ankle so you can show off a pair of proper '90s mom sneakers. (If you're going full-on mom with your denim, you might as well go mom from head to toe.)
But once they're on, mom jeans make us feel great, and they look stylish, too. Some of our favorite ways to wear them include with a cropped cardigan set, an oversize blazer and belt, or a tucked-in white T-shirt, all of which draw attention to your midsection and highlight your frame. Even though we've had success with many pairs, we know you want to know about the best of the best, so we're naming our absolute favorite styles here. First, scroll through some of our favorite mom-jean styling inspiration in recent history, then shop editor-approved designs that you're sure to fall madly in love with, just like we did.
