The Prince's Foundation and Net-a-Porter partnered on an exciting sustainable fashion initiative, titled The Modern Artisan. The project and debut capsule collection, which is available to view this Thursday, Nov. 12, aims to train the next generation of artisans by giving textile students in the UK and Italy "the opportunity to produce a sustainable menswear and womenswear collection," Clarence House said in a press statement.
"Profits from the sale of the collection will be donated to The Prince's Foundation to enable the charity to develop and deliver training programs that will help preserve traditional textile skills," the statement said. The Modern Artisan's debut ready-to-wear collection champions sustainable luxury fashion, is designed by students in Italy, and is manufactured by trainee artisans at Dumfries House, Scotland. We commend Prince Charles for his consistent campaigning for sustainability through The Prince's Foundation, with a special focus on sustainable fashion - which the prince has spoken about at length, most recently in the December 2020 issue of British Vogue.
"It seems to me there are huge opportunities, particularly now, within the whole sustainable fashion sector, to counter this extraordinary trend of throwaway clothing - or throwaway everything, frankly," Prince Charles said in his sustainable fashion spread for British Vogue. Keep reading for a preview of The Modern Artisan collection, available at Net-a-Porter, Mr Porter, Yoox, and The Outnet.
