After wearing a gorgeous purple Christopher John Rogers outfit to the inauguration, Vice President Kamala Harris attended the Celebrating America TV special wearing a chic black ensemble by another emerging Black designer. For the event, Kamala opted for a tuxedo coat and shimmery sequined dress by designer Sergio Hudson. In fact, former first lady Michelle Obama wore a plum outfit by the same designer during the inauguration earlier that afternoon.
Kamala dazzled in the floor-length silk tuxedo coat and cocktail dress, and she added an 18k yellow gold and diamond David Yurman American flag lapel pin. She also accessorized with rings and earrings by Irene Neuwirth, as well as black Jimmy Choo Rory pumps. Sergio told Harper's Bazaar, "We want to be uplifted right now . . . We kept the silhouette very structured and tailored, because that's who the vice president is. But the liquid sequins give her glamour and shine, because her influence and the way she's broken barriers is a light for so many of us. She shines so we can all shine."
