Ella Emhoff x Batsheva's New Limited-Edition Knitwear Collection Is Funky to Its Core

Only three months after landing her first modeling contract, Ella Emhoff has launched her first official knitwear collaboration with designer Batsheva Hay, and the collection alone might make grandma chic 2021's newest trend. After teasing the design process in early March - which involved collaborating via text, email, and Zoom - Ella and Batsheva have channeled 2000s pastel style into three pieces ranging in price from $150 to $280.

"Having the bright colors I love mixed with her traditional silhouettes; it was kind of the perfect melding of styles," Ella said in a press release. "There's not a real plan, it's just intuition. It was really nice to work with someone else who works like that because it can be seen as an unorganized aspect, but it's not. It just happens so stress-free." The pair only met up once in person for fittings, making the finished collection a true creative feat.

"What I love about the work that I do is combining traditional design with knitwear."

Available exclusively on Batsheva.com, the limited-edition line offers a pastel crocheted vest, a ruffle-trimmed corset, and a kaleidoscopic bag with mustard trim, perfect for pairing with your favorite thrifted jeans and a set of tinted sunglasses. Each piece in the collection is made-to-order in New York with "an emphasis on reducing waste," which means it might take some time between hitting the "pre-order" button and being able to try the new knitwear for yourself.

For anyone stuck deciding between which piece to try, Ella's personal favorite is the Knit Corset Top. "What I love about the work that I do is combining traditional design with knitwear, and I think especially the corset piece is the perfect melding of our two styles," Ella said. "What is so cool about the top is that it is so versatile and so it lends itself to both of our audiences who might want to wear it with a big frilly dress or wear it alone with blue jeans."

If all goes well, we might even be able to expect a second Batsheva x Ella Emhoff collaboration. Check out the retro pieces from all angles ahead and pair your favorites with our top shoe picks for spring.
